The Network Engineer at Yapstone will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of a high availability AWS cloud solution. This resource will plan, document and conduct technical tasks associated with the implementation, administration and maintenance of AWS cloud network and application infrastructure. The team, reporting to the Director of Network Engineering and Architecture is responsible for all aspect of public cloud security, including all explicit routing, network/VPC segmentation, Zero-Trust principles, Network ACLs, Load and Application Balancers, L3-4/L7 Firewall, Web Application Firewall, Authentication/Authorization, logging and monitoring automation. The Network Engineer collaborates with technical leadership, various product/technology teams, and business stakeholders to develop cloud solutions to meet operational goals for high availability, performance, stability, security and cost efficiency.
Contribute onefforts to develop and refine Yapstone network architecture principles, vision and roadmap.
Participate in system design planning, review, and implementation working groups with product engineering teams.
Define infrastructure standard frameworks, blueprints and artifacts for various cloud services exposed by the broader Infrastructure teams.
Develop documentation utilizing standardized templates including deployment and configuration guides, design and engineering plans.
Provide technical subject matter expertise, and at times lead large and transformational infrastructure project implementations, ensuring engineers develop technology solutions that are aligned with established technology roadmaps and standards.
Partner with internal business owners to gather/document requirements, research, sizing and design scalable cloud-based solutions primarily in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) vendors.
Validate all new technical design/solutions meet monitoring, runbook, cost and other operational requirements.
Execute documented changes according to information provided by business owners through JIRA ticketing.
Determines methods and procedures reviewed by others on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.
Implement practices to measure performance KPIs and implement practices to help improve it.
At minimum 12 years of related experience
Practical experience (hands-on) in network infrastructure solutions architecture, engineering, implementation, integrations and operations of enterprise networks (AWS and on-premise)
Strong working knowledge of IP Internetworking, LAN Switching, WAN and network security are expected.
Experience working with cloud-based network infrastructures (AWS & Azure) along with native services including (but not limited to):
o Virtual Private Network (Site to Site) and AWS Direct Connect
o Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) / Transit Gateways / Availability Zones
o Network, Elastic and Application Load Balancing
o Web Application Firewall
o Security Groups
o Identity and Access Management
o S3 and Glacier Storage
o EC2 (Linux1, Linux 2, Windows, CentOS, Redhat
Extensive hands-on experience with Linux systems and command line interface (CLI) for Cisco and Palo Alto network devices.
Solid understanding and experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems and hybrid cloud environments
Solid understanding of full networking stack (routing, switching and optical networking), including key protocols & standards, Linux networking and open-source solutions, vendor ecosystems and implementation best practices.
In-depth understanding of open networking trends and innovations, including next-generation network hardware, software, platform architectures and disaggregated systems.
Ability to code and script in administrative type language (e.g. Ruby, Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Solid technical understanding of hybrid, multi-cloud architectures (engineering/operations experience a bonus).
Excellent collaboration and people skills.
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills from engineering to executive.
Proven experience to evaluate then introduce a wide variety of systems technologies and tools.
Experience in creating both short and long-term cloud computing technology roadmaps based on an understanding of the organizational strategic directions, technology and business needs.
Have exceptional oral and written communication skills and work well in a team environment where the goal is to spread knowledge.
